Wine & Grapes

An interdisciplinary network of wine and grape researchers collaborating with industry to study wine quality, terroir and sustainable viticulture practices.

This cluster will use cutting-edge bio-chemical and genetic analyses to better understand and communicate the identity and terroir of B.C. wines, assist the B.C. wine industry’s efforts to transition to more sustainable agricultural practices, and evaluate how the wine industry affects the region’s socio-economic development. The cluster will provide direct support to the B.C. wine industry as it seeks to solve applied research problems and apply new knowledge to mitigate climate change, respond to environmental threads (forest fires, disease, etc.), and adapt to shifting consumer preferences.
