PacifiCan Regional Innovation Ecosystems (RIE) Program

Due to the institutional requirements associated with PacifiCan RIE applications, interested researchers are encouraged to contact us as early as possible to discuss their projects, confirm institutional support and receive preliminary feedback.

The Regional Innovation Ecosystems (RIE) program drives economic growth across British Columbia by investing in initiatives that strengthen innovation, entrepreneurship and business collaboration. The program provides funding that typically does not exceed $3 million per project, covering up to 50% of all eligible project costs.

Starting in 2026, PacifiCan implemented significant structural changes to streamline its application process—a change that helps B.C. businesses, innovators and entrepreneurs secure vital capacity-building resources through a more predictable, structured funding timeline. Applicants must now submit full proposals during two distinct annual calls for proposals, which open once in mid-June and once in the fall.

For more information, please see the Government of Canada’s Regional Innovation Ecosystems in British Columbia web pages.
